October

O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief. - Robert Frost

Charlie breezed through October on his way to November, with energy in his legs and a smile on his lips. Days were full; mornings began with a Jolly Jump and an Exersauce routine, followed by some cereal before heading down, exhausted, to his morning nap. Mondays are Babytime at the Library; Tuesdays and Thursdays are swimming at Eileen Dailly Pool in Burnaby (Starfish, Level 1); Wednesdays is outdoor fitness with mom at Trout Lake and playtime with Rosi over in Dunbar; and Fridays we make up as we go. Time is structured in chunks not defined by the clock. This feels right.

On October 5 Charlie had the great pleasure of watching Uncle Darren graduate with a BSc from SFU. The whole family's proud!
SFU's youngest grad.

On Thanksgiving Monday the clan headed to Bowen Island for a daytrip in honour of Opa's 65th birthday. Here we are at the beginning of the day....
...and Mom got in three hours on the water with her siblings! It was wonderful.

Charlie loves to pull hair.
There's something special going on between Charlie and Lor here, but it's their little secret.

Charlie finally got to meet our friends Kyath and Luke, who were visiting from Toronto for Luke's (West Coast) CD release gig.
Charlie turned one-half on October 12. To celebrate, we had a party and made half-cakes.

We played "Pin the Diaper on the Charlie."
My daddy went to Regina for a week, and all he brought back was this digital photograph of a tacky sign! (And a pair of Roughriders Robeez).

With Randy in Regina, Charlie and Mom continued to visit friends. Here's Charlie with Kaemon Karlstrom (Lena and Eylin not in photo).
Unser kleiner Prinz!
